Almost anyone with a television knows the phrase "You are NOT the father" very well. For those that are not familiar, it is a quote from the Maury Povich show where he provides DNA tests for women and men that have questions regarding the paternity of their children. While observing the ignorance of others may sometimes be entertaining, I can only watch so much of that and find it sad that so many women do not know who fathered their children. I try not to judge but damn! There was a woman on the show one day that had over 15 men tested and NONE of them was the father. I respect her determination but of course have to question her morals, humility, and parenting skills, or lack thereof.
By the time you make it to the Maury show it's too late for shoulda, coulda, wouldas. The deed is already done and the child is here. Now comes the public humiliation of admitting to the world through tears that you slept with at least 2 men in a relatively close amount of time and often cheating on one with one or more others. My real issue with the scenario is not the cheating, though of course I know that's wrong, or the loose morals. For me the issue is that most of the women come on the show claiming to KNOW and be at least 1000% sure that some poor sap is the father. They even get family members, often their own "mothers", to participate in their foolishness. They argue at a tv screen while pointing out the facial "similarities" between the man and the child. Before coming to the show these men have been harassed and publicly called deadbeats. On the show they're booed, screamed at, and made out to be the scum of the earth. Then the results are read. Dun dun dunnn......
In the case of 3 year old Roger Jr., Roger, Tyrell, and J-Money, YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER!
And now for the real drama. The maternal figure (they don't behave like a mother, so I won't call them that) runs off the stage to the back hallway and throws herself on the floor or nearest couch. Hilarious but again, sad.
First, the person participating on the side of the maternal figure was neither the bed nor the bed post when all of the careless sex was taking place, yet they feel they have the right to participate in the circus. Second, if you know you were sleeping around, don't act like you KNOW who the baby daddy is, chasing and harassing that man. Some of these "women" have even collected child support! Third, don't act shocked, like you are the last one to know, that the baby isn't his.
If I were ever caught up in a situation like this, while completely unlikely, I would not further embarrass myself and my child and make a public spectacle of my poor judgement by going on television and telling the world I was giving it up on the playground. I would keep it to myself! Finally, to the "women" that have been or are considering going on the show, DON'T! They sell home DNA test online and at Walgreen's. Inbox me and I'll tell you where you can get the test done for $99 by a doctor. Find some self-respect, not pride, self-respect. There is a difference. Yes, there is something wrong with not knowing who your baby daddy is. And no, it's not okay to tell the world.
Your body is a temple but that shouldn't mean all men are welcome to enter!
